The DNC Platform Committee is responsible for establishing the Democratic Parties national campaign platform and Rothschild's endorsement of McCain is an utter political embarrassment for Howard Dean and the Obama Campaign. Rothschild announcement also highlights the ongoing rift between Hillary Clinton supporters and Obama as Rothschild was a prominent supporter of the New York Senator; raising over $100,000 on Clinton's behalf during the primaries.
In an interview with CNN this summer, Rothschild expressed her difficulty in backing Obama by stating, "I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”
Rothschild's endorsement of McCain, although not a first for Hillary Clinton supporters, is certainly significant due to her prominence within the Democratic Party. Rothschild's announcement also represents a proverbial 'slap in the face' to the mainstream media who continues to deny the reality that millions of Clinton Supporters have either abandoned the Democratic Party or still remain undecided on supporting Obama.
