Remembering Obama Chose Vacation Over Military TownHall Meeting!

There is an unfortunate side to a 24 hour news cycle consisting to 30 second sound bytes: A Shortened Memory.

On July 11th, Carissa Picard, managing director of the Fort Hood Presidential Town Hall Consortium announced that on August 11th, this past Monday, the group would hold a Town Hall meeting at Fort Hood consisting of Military personnel and their families. The Military Townhall meeting would eventually be sponsored by 15 different military and veterans groups including the Military Officers Association of America and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard. Additionally, CBS News had reached an agreement with the group and base to nationally televise the Town Hall forum.

John McCain immediately agreed to attend the Military Townhall meeting which would afford the candidates an opportunity to discuss issues important to our courageous men and women serving in all branches of the US Armed Forces. However, at the time, Senator Barack Obama, declined the invitation to the Military Townhall Meeting citing that his campaign had a previously scheduled event for that day. Despite repeated attempts by veterans and military groups to secure his presence at the Military Townhall Meeting, Obama's campaign continued to state his inability to attend the event because of previous commitments. As recently as August 4th, the Obama campaign reiterated that the Senator had previously scheduled an event and would be unable to attend.

Three days later, Picard and CBS would be forced to postpone the event.

So what was this previously scheduled event that Obama that was so important that the Senator would be unable to attend a townhall meeting on a US Military Base focusing on participation by our uniformed men, women and their families?

That's right! His Vacation!!!

Enough Said! I guess time on the beach, a round of golf and a meeting with 200,000 screaming Germans was more important.

You know, maybe Obama originally did have something else planned that day, doubtful as that may be, given his cowardice in joining McCain in ANY legitimate townhall debate.

But if he did have such engagement and it was cancelled, you'd think--well, all you all--southern plural for you all, which can be either singular or plural--and I'd think--that if he wanted an opportunity to get some face time with the military AND challenge that ole debbil McCain, what better venue? So he'd accept.

But, then, maybe it was more important to get to Hawaii and defrief and rebrief his white grandmother about certain issues with his real name and birth, citizenship, etc.?

Or, maybe his deep pockets and other puppeteers simply yanked him out of the spotlight, given how he was crashing and burning on lots of things?

Of course, they never contemplated a real crisis such as Russia-Georgia, which afforded would-be CINC and pretend-president Obama yet more opportunities to look and sound like, well--let's just say non-CINC, non-presidential and, yes weak.
