Obama Defeats FL/MI But Loses Support Of Feminist Lobby & Female Voters

Obama Loses Support Of The Feminist Lobby & Female Voters

It took just hours for the DNC to determine that Florida & Michigan would only receive 50% of their delegation and Michigan would award 46% of their delegation to Barack Obama. In the end, just as I have pointed out over the past few days, the DNC made sure that they appeared sympathetic to Michigan & Florida voters without making a decision that would jeopardize their anointed candidate. Let me make this clear, today’s exercise by the DNC amounted to nothing more than a publicity stunt. The 30 person committee that rendered their decision today was made up of 8 Obama supporters and 7 DNC representatives hand picked by Dean; allowing Dean & Obama to garnish a majority vote without Dean actually having to cast a vote. The members of this committee had their minds made up when they announce the meeting, not after today’s public hearings.

The Clinton campaign naturally cannot be happy about this result, but more importantly the majority female support that Clinton enjoyed just took one more step away from Obama. Mike Kaszuba of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reported yesterday morning that Koryne Horbal, the founder of the DFL Feminist Caucus, acknowledged that she will advise her supporters and all women not back Barack Obama if the Florida and Michigan delegations were not FULLY seated. Horbal further acknowledged that she would urge women to write in Hillary Clinton’s name on the November Ballot.

Horbal, who formerly served as a member of the Democratic National Committee, has apparently garnished support from Geraldine Ferraro among other feminist leaders. Starting Friday, Horbal was to begin a nationwide petition drive to garner similar pledges from women across the U.S.

Obama’s problem with women voters may be compounded this fall as rumors have surfaced and increased that John McCain is strongly considering Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate. Palin is a popular moderate Republican who has been able to garner bipartisan support within the Alaskan Legislature. Ironically, fearful of a strong Republican Woman on the ticket, Obama supportive blogs such as HufPo have already begun the inaccurate attacks and characterizations against Palin. HufPo in an op-ed last week characterized Palin as the reincarnation of Dick Cheney; a characterization that might become a hard sell considering she once backed a Democratic-led bill raising taxes on the oil companies operating in the state.

There is no doubt that Obama advocates have ruthlessly gone after any voice of dissent, using sexism to their advantage while insinuating that opposition such as Clinton, and former VP Nominee Ferraro, as “race-baiting politicians appealing to their poor, uneducated base of support”.

Horbal has shown true leadership in taking a position that clearly will be unpopular with the DNC and Obama Supporters. I hope for my daughters and nieces sake that she sticks to her guns and that the women of this country remember the recent demonizations of Clinton, Ferraro and possibly the soon to be Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin.
By the way, John McCain, if you stumble upon this article: CHOOSE SARAH PALIN.

For weeks, the DNC has warned Senator Clinton not to say anything that could jeopardize November. How does she campaign IN THE PRIMARIES when her hands are tied? The DNC, the media, the Obama Campaign...have all decided who the democratic nominee should be months ago, so there is no surprise at their so called major meeting on Florida and Michigan in which the DNC actually GAVE DELEGATES to Obama. As a male Clinton supporter, I cannot vote for a party and their nominee who do not represent true democratic values....I will be switching out of the dems to ind next Tuesday when BO annoints himself King, and if not Hillary '08, I will be voting McCain '08 and that is where my funding will go!

Oh the DNC hasn't just demonized Hillary, they have also pre-blamed her if the extremely weak and flawed male candidate they have annointed doesn't win, which he won't.

The man is on the radical fringe left of US politics has ties to extreme groups and churches and is completely inexperienced.

But it's going to be HIllaries fault if he doesn't win, not his own choices or weaknesses as a candidate, which were apparent from the begining.

This could harm the Democratic Party for decades. Women make up the majority of the electorate in every state. Of course McCain is going to chose a female running mate. If Clinton won he would chose a black running mate.

However balcks make up the majority of the electorate in ZERO states and a swing of 5% of their vote doesn't change the political landscape. A swing of 5% of the female vote gives the White House ti the Republicans, which will be the case for another 20 years after what the Dems have done to Hillary.

The anger isn't going away. The arbitrary decision without any rule backing it up to simply take delegates away from her in Michigan last night wa the final straw. I no longer believe the Democratic Party is fit to control the white house as they care about democracy about as much as Robert Mugabe.

The Republicans should control the white House and will for some time.

I not only hope that millions of people who believe in democracy write in Hillary's name but that they take their names off the voter registration as democrats to send a very clear signal to the DNC.

What a bunch of WHINERS!

I'm not voting for a Democrat or a Republican. Both parties make me want to PUKE! But this entire fight about Florida and Michigan, and Hillary not getting A) annointed queen of the D party, and B) her way on the delegate decision when NO delegates should have been awarded, makes me WRETCH.

If women are so stupid as to think that Hillary was somehow their savior, then they SHOULD continue to vote against their own best interests and vote for McCain or sit home moping in November!

I live in The Banana Republic of Michigan, where the DNC and the Michigan Democratic Party make a deal to give 46% of the delegates to Obama, who made a conscious decision to REMOVE his name from the ballot and didn't receive any votes. In Michigan when you vote for "Not committed" that is exactly what it means, you are voting to send 40% of the Michigan Delegation to the Convention in Denver not bound to any candidate. Hillary RECEIVED 55% of the vote and is entitled to 73 Delegates but the DNC took 4 of her Delegates and gifted them to Obama, along with all the rest of the Delegates he didn't earn, this is truly an OBAMANATION. I have been HOODWINKED and BAMBOOZELED by this Obamanation with the help of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, the DNC and the Michigan Democratic Party. You people need to Change your name!

Hillary effectively lost weeks ago. This is about her ego and sense of entitlement - and its very sad that so many woman are willing to believe she has their interests in mind. Why would any female democrat be willing to vote for McCain given the number of potential supreme court nominees on the line? She started this race with every advantage including most media endorsements, but her stale and poorly managed campaign lost fair and square to Obama. She tried to change the rules in her favor and attacked the democratic party itself, then wonders why they are no longer her friends? She wasn't cheated, she lost. Now its time to come together behind Obama for the sake of future woman.

re: "Now its time to come together behind Obama for the sake of future woman."

You're kidding, right?
17 million Democrats voted for Hillary Clinton and the DNC has chosen to hand-pick a different candidate.

Please don't try to lecture women about the future of women. The time to listen to Clinton supporters is NOW, or else wave good-bye to us.

We obviously do not mind fleeing the Democratic Party when the DNC ignores us. That's why they call us Reagan Democrats.

The best way for us to express our hatred of the DNC is to guarantee that their hand-picked choice for our President is never our president.

It will take just a few hundred thousand votes cast for John McCain in just a few certain states to make that happen.

The funny part?
From our math, it looks very possible that BHO could win the popular vote with his overwhelming black support.

But he will likely still lose the electoral college because just a few hundred thousand bitter typical white folks clinging to their guns and god in NH, NV, NM, PA, IN, MI, FL and OH can defeat him.

It couldn't be sweeter irony.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"

The man behind the curtain (of the DNC) is Barack Hussein Obama. I and many other Dems will be voting for McCain in November if Sen. Clinton is eliminated as a candidate and the DNC continues to resort to illegal and unconstitutional methods to disempower her.

So, Obamabots, have fun now, because the "Party" (as you knew it) is OVER!!

As a woman I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR OBAMBI! I will encourage everyone I know to vote against this fraud. He has no right to be anywhere near the White House.

ANYONE WHO SAYS THE DNC WAS FAIR IS LYING!!! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

To have the DNC settle this at the end of May is a political and diplomatic joke.

Now let’s address some misinformed opinions.

1) Michigan and Florida were not the only states that broke the rules by having earlier primaries. On August 19, 2006 based on a recommendation of the Rules and Bylaws Committee, the DNC approves a calendar which allows Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina to host early nominating contests in January of 2008. The measure is passed with near-unanimity (only New Hampshire votes no). Florida and Michigan delegations support the measure.

The original calendar that all parties agreed to was:

• Iowa caucuses held no earlier than January 14, 2008;
• Nevada caucuses held no earlier than January 19;
• New Hampshire primary held no earlier than January 22; and
• South Carolina primary held no earlier than January 29.

Subsequent to the agreement made on August 19 establishing the calendar,

Iowa moved their caucus date to January 3.
New Hampshire jumped ahead of Nevada to the second spot and scheduled their primary for January 8, and South Carolina pushed their primary ahead to January 26.

http://www.michigandems.com/Levin-Dingell%20Letter.pdf
(calendar notes are on page 2)

2) She did not make this pledge when it was convenient.

Friday January 25 (1 day before South Carolina and 4 days before Florida): Hillary issues a press release that calls for the seating of Michigan and Florida delegates.

Sunday January 27 (1 day after South Carolina): Hillary announces she will travel to Florida on the day of their non-sanctioned primary to hold fundaisers and show her commitment to seating their delegates.

3) There was no written agreement on keeping names on or off the ballot. Nowhere in the DNC’s Delegate Selection Plans is there any suggestion or command that any candidate remove his or her name from a ballot in a state that is in violation of timing rules. The only pledge that people keep referring to was between the candidates and the party chairs of Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

Gravel, Kucinich and Dodd kept their names on the Michigan ballot. Michigan voters knew what changes had occurred, and many were instructed by Obama’s camp to vote Uncommitted. But if Obama was so consistent why did he keep his name on the Florida ballot? And why did he,, as 2009 said run ads in Florida as well. There have been grumblings that Obama’s camp thought he could win Florida. When they were crushed at the polls they quickly changed their tune and started their disinformation campaign of disenfranchisment.

4) The assignment of half the delegates is NOT generous. In fact it’s the only FAIR penalty. The mandatory penalty is exclusion of one half of the offending state’s pledged and alternate delegates. Where the DNC botched the job was claiming exclusion of all delegates from the very beginning.
The RNC cut the delegates in half before Floridians even voted. The DNC waited till May 31st to come to a decision. Who wins political and diplomatic capital? It’s a no-brainer

4) I have no problem with giving Uncommited Michigan votes to Obama. The problem arose when Obama stonewalled all attempts at a re-vote in Michigan. He even had the gall to say to a disenfranchised Michigan voter, “He can vote for me in November.” It’s a little ridiculous to now claim those votes are yours when you were against any previous reinstatement agreement that would have given them to you.

A lot of this drama could have been prevented if the DNC had the cajones, leadership and diplomacy skills to resolve this as early as possible. Now they have caused more animosity and political miscalculation by waiting so long and ignoring their own rules and precedents.

What you Obamabots and the Dean/Pelosi/Brazille nuts fail to understand is no is satisfied. Awarding half was a good solution but it’s too little to late. Obama leaving Trinity was a good idea but it’s too little too late. Winning the battle but losing the War is TOO LITTLE TOO LATE.

Like I said earlier the way the RNC handled this tells me everything I need to know. The way Obama’s camp has behaved is outrageous. Guess who I’m voting for?"

I attended the meeting yesterday. I could not beleive what I saw and what I heard. However, once I had some time to think about the process, I became mindful of the history of United States. What can we tell our children? What an example. Lies, lies, lies, and more lies. What are the quailifications to serve on the Rules Committee( just be able to breathe, their decision did not reflect to much more).

In 2007, Illinois moved their primary up to facilitate Obama's campaign. http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2007/06/21/news/doc467949fa4356c339573697.txt

"Hillary effectively lost weeks ago. This is about her ego and sense of entitlement."

Complete bullshit.

THE PEOPLE want to vote for Hillary. Which is why she's in the race.

Did Obama supporters REALLY believe that Hillary supporters would just shut up, lay down and let the Obama spawn just run over Hillary's campaign? What in hell made too many Obama supporters believe that Hillary supporters would just step aside and just hand Obama our votes in November? Are his supporters REALLY this arrogant and delusional??

If anything, it's defintely Obama supporters that have a false sense of entitlement. They think that they're entitled to Hillary's votes! And they're in for a SERIOUSLY rude awakening in November.

rapchat, Don't be so sure that McCain would nominate Supreme Court Judges sure to make conservatives smile.

He's not religiously motivated, he's much closer to Bill Clinton's position of "I personally disapprove of abortion but I support a woman's right to choose"...

He's more about Judges who follow the Constitution and the Will of the people.

What that means is he won't support a federal marriage amendment but will support the vote of the people regarding gay rights.

An argument that has already been won among young people...who are the future BTW, so it's just a matter of time.
